Looking At Others Keeps You Stuck

“Mind your own business”

I’ve heard that many years ago, but failed to implement it until recently.

I’ve been looking at what others are doing, especially what the ‘successful people’ have done so that I hope to do the same thing because they say doing the same thing can give me the same result.

I spend LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of money buying courses and programs in the hope to see the scene behind the curtain of what others do so that I can simply copy and shorten my path to success. 6-figure property investment course, 5-figure online marketing course, 4-figure how to start a blog and earn $1000 on the side, you name it.

That’s what I have done for many years.

Nothing worked. I didn’t know why.

I’ve registered the domain, set up the blog completely like what I’ve been taught to. I’ve followed the steps and clicked the right button on Facebook advertisement. I’ve recited the phrases for speaking with agents as I’ve been told to.

Why it didn’t work???

I questioned myself more times than I could remember.

And yet, I failed to understand why.

Until now.

I am not them. They are not me. When I keep looking at what others have done, I lost sight of myself. I forgot my own style, my own creation, my own thoughts. I become like a machine and that is not authentic as you may have imagined.

In this day and age, people can easily see whether you are being yourself or mimicking someone. There is a critical difference between learning and copying. And the difference in result is vast.

Every flower has a different expression and so should you. Our life purpose is to express ourselves. We long to be heard yet we don’t know how we can be heard. We wish to get attention in this noisy world yet we fail to find our own voices.

I started dropping everything I’ve learned except for the techniques which I’ve learned and now become mine.

I stopped looking at others and started focusing on what I can give.

I stopped bingeing on other people’s youtube videos and started producing my own. I stopped reading other people’s blogs and posts and started writing my own.

The transition is amazing.

At the end of the day, I shifted from being a consumer to a creator.

And that’s what it takes to make money online — is a Creator. Hope this small little experience sharing gives you some sparks if you are feeling lost like I once did.

The answer lies not in others. You won’t find your solution elsewhere but within yourself.

Everything becomes clear once you stopped looking at others and started minding your own business.
