What are you telling yourself?

If you are into journaling, regardless of whether you do it digitally or with a physical notebook, the content of what you journal can make a HUGE difference in your life.

In this article, I want to share a few POWERFUL suggestions that I use in my own thinking and journaling to inspire you get out of the victim role and reclaim your personal power.

Sounds good? Let’s begin.

I know that many people journal like brain dump (including me previously). There is nothing wrong with brain dump itself, but if your life is currently filled with things and people that you are not totally satisfied with. Guess what? You are reinforcing and keep manifesting the same things and people by brain dumping in your journal.

The reason for this is because the law of attraction works like this: the more intense your feelings are around something, the sooner it will come to you.

So if you are not feeling great (in order words, if you are feeling bad) about your life right now and you brain dump those into your journal, you are going to feel those not-that-great feelings once again in the journaling process.

There is a saying that “what we focus on expands” and that is absolutely true. So instead of just letting our brain run wild and dumping whatever that comes to our mind (usually a mix of goods and bads or could be bads more), we want to be conscious about what we are telling ourselves and make powerful suggestions in the process.

What you can do is give a framework for your brain to move around within that. For example, journal 10 things that you are grateful for the day. Then you are limiting your brain to only think about things that you are grateful for (most likely to be good things). And by focusing on the goods and feeling it as you journal, the law of attraction delivers more goods to you.

If there is some aspects that you want to improve in life, for example you want to have a fulfilling, lasting relationship, then suggest to yourself that a fulfilling, lasting relationship exist by journaling all the things that you plan to do with your right one. Journal how you feel with him / her. By doing so, you are asking your brain to focus on the idea of a fulfilling, lasting relationship and what it looks like. The underlying suggestion is that such a fulfilling, lasting relationship exists and it feels real. The more intense your feelings around this is, the sooner it comes to you.

That is why we do not want just any random brain dump of the day — how the weather is like, what happens that day, what is happening in life that I’m not feeling happy about, etc. We can do that as well but we should always be making powerful suggestions to ourselves after the random chattering to reinforce what is true for us and our life.

Another powerful suggestion you can make is you are abundant and your life is rich. Find examples of things that you remember that tells you that you are abundant and your life is rich — joining a new class, learning something new, reading an article that inspires you, going to a beach and counting the sands, or just simply having unlimited electricity to re-charge your phone!

Again, we limit our brain to move around within the suggestion so that it gives us what we want to hear and see.

This is not unlike doing a meditation where you consciously focus your mind on a mantra or breathing. In fact, journaling can be a meditation process as well as a manifestation process.

Manifestation does not require you to sit in a particular position or write in a certain style in order to manifest. It is a continuous process and it is always working.

Yet another powerful suggestion is that everything always work out well for me, even if it appears to be a failure it will turn out to be a gift that is the best for my highest interest. Then I can go onto where I am now (which could be messy, confusing, look like a failure) and how it will turn out well for me. A breakup could be an opportunity for me to find true love, a challenge at work could be a growth opportunity, and no one responding to my social media post at the beginning could be an inspiring story to tell when my business reaches 7-figure.

I try to remind myself to unwrap the gift in every situation and guide my brain to shift perspective this way.

The last but certainly not least powerful suggestion that I use is I am the happiest person in the world. And I went on and on about the feeling, the things and people that appears in my life to make it so (not exhaustive and I always am open to the possibilities).

Use powerful suggestions is so helpful in shifting our focus and perspective to think more of what we want and help us attract more goods.

Bottom line, the law of attraction is always working. Rather than leaving it to chance by randomly writing about stuff or journaling things that make you angry or sad, your time would be better spent on powerful suggestions.

One day, you will look back at these old journals and see that you are living your dream exactly as you have believed.
